The Master of Analytical Chemistry is a non-thesis master’s degree designed for professionals interested in pursuing their graduate education in chemistry with a focus on the applications for business and industry, education, government, and the military.
This well established online professional science master's degree provides students with a solid foundation in separation science, spectroscopy, and method development. Courses in communication, statistics, industrial leadership, and business principles—courses essential for a scientific career in the business world—are integral to the curriculum. The 32 hours of coursework can be completed remotely in 2.5 years of part-time study. The final oral exam is administered on the Mies (main) Campus in Chicago.
If your career goals do not require a full master's degree, you may be interested in completing a certificate in Analytical Methods Development, Analytical Spectroscopy, Chromatography, or Regulatory Science. Admission
Applicants are evaluated on an individual basis, but are expected to hold a bachelor's degree in science or engineering and have completed two semesters of organic chemistry, one semester of analytical or quantitative chemistry, one semester of physical chemistry, and one semester of calculus. Strong preference is given to applicants who have work experience in a chemistry-related field.
Applicants are required to submit academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation, an application fee, and a professional statement. GRE scores are required for international students, domestic students with an undergraduate GPA between 2.5 and 3.0, or at the request of the admissions committee. The minimum GRE score for admissions consideration is 300 [quantitative + verbal] and 2.5 [analytical writing].
