Research & Accomplishments 

Neutrino oscillations with the Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Study (MINOS) and the Daya Bay Reactor Anti-Neutrino Experiment. MINOS began taking data in 2005 and has since published the world's best limit on the neutrino mass splitting know as "delta-m-squared 2-3". Located in an old iron mine in Soudan, Minnesota, MINOS has also observed muon anti-neutrino oscillations with greater precision than any previous experiment. Although the original experiment has now ended, the apparatus lives on and is still taking data as part of the MINOS+ experiment.

The Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment "discovered" the neutrino mixing parameter known as "sine squared two theta 1-3". Detector construction is now complete at the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station near Hong Kong. The collaboration primarily consists of American and Chinese physicists and engineers, amounting to one of the largest and most important scientific collaboration between the US and China. I am currently a member of the publication committee and chair of the Institutional Board.

I am also interested in physics education and improving student learning and outcomes. I genuinely believe that a revolution in collegiate education is just around the corner, and I plan to be at the forefront of that revolution!
