Undergraduate chemistry student John Clark working with Assistant Professor of Chemistry David Minh
Rising senior John Clark works with David Minh, assistant professor of chemistry, on computational methods for predicting binding affinities between proteins and small molecules. These methods are useful for computer-aided drug design. Clark is exploring how to group together similar protein conformations that will likely interact with small molecules in a similar way and with similar interaction strength. By performing binding affinity calculations for a few representatives from each group instead of the whole set, Clark can save a lot of computer time.
