The Menger Lecture is cancelled due to illness. The poster contest and presentation of the various awards (Menger student, Outstanding TA and Buck McMorris summer stipend) will still take place.

Karl Menger

The Department of Applied Mathematics at IIT will host Andrea Bertozzi of the University of California Los Angeles, as the 2014 Karl Menger Lecturer. The event, part of the eighth annual Karl Menger Lecture and Awards, will be held March 31-April 1 on the Illinois Institute of Technology Main Campus. Professor Bertozzi's lecture is titled "Mathematics of Crime."

More About Karl Menger

Karl Menger was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at IIT from 1946-1971, and influenced many students, fellow faculty members, and friends during his lifetime.  Regarded as one of the finest mathematicians of the 20th century, he made significant contributions to the fields of dimension theory, probability, economics, ethics, geometry, and calculus.
